Fun in the Sun

With both Garret and I working full time and having summer classes, we hardly get days off together this summer which is hard since we both love being out on the water. Yesterday, we took our kayaks to the local river and spent all morning kayaking in the beautiful weather. We found a rope swing hanging from a tree and Garret had a little too much fun jumping from the high branches and doing backflips off the rope swing. I really hope our future children have half as much courage as my dare-devil husband has :) 

Today, we planned a lake day with Garret's parents and our two water-loving nephews. We had quite the day including a busted tire, our boat not starting up, and our spare tire starting to smoke like crazy. Luckily, we were able to cool off in a swimming pool and make it home safe and sound. Even though our day didn't go according to plan, it was still a good day off work and got to soak up some sun.

Garret's Birthday!

Today is Garret's 24th birthday! 

Last night we took our husky, Jake, down to Table Rock Lake to go camping. It was an absolutely perfect night! We arrived at our campsite right before the sunset, set up camp, and sat by a bonfire all night. It was the best little getaway :) 

After leaving the campsite this morning, I gave Garret his surprise birthday present that I've been keeping a secret for what seems like forever! I surprised him with a vacation to Gulf Shores, Alabama at the end of July! We are both so excited and cannot wait to go. It would have been ideal to take his surprise road trip during his actual birthday, but since we're both taking summer classes we'll just have to wait till July 30th :) It will be so nice to soak our toes in the Gulf of Mexico and spend time with Garret's best friend and his family that lives down there. 

Tonight we're having a cook out and a bonfire to celebrate Garret's birthday with our families. Excited to spend another night outdoors :)
